Arena polo is played on usually 100 yards long and 50 yards wide fields. The playing space is clearly delimited by more than 1.5 meters high boards. These walls bring great dynamism to the game, as they allow play to take place in more enclosed spaces.
Another important characteristic of arena polo is that it can be played outdoors or indoors. It is not for nothing that this modality enjoys great popularity in the United States and European nations, which are characterized by strong winters with very low temperatures and few hours of daylight. The possibility of playing in enclosed and even illuminated spaces makes it possible to continue playing throughout the year.
In Argentina, the Formula Polo League has two tournaments, the Apertura and the Clausura. The first is from February to May, the fall season, and the Clausura during the Triple Crown, from October to December.
Every year during mid-December the Formula Polo World Cup is played with the winning teams in the stages of different countries.
